How to make a perfume last all day?
Do you want to fully enjoy your perfume but it doesn't last? We have the solution! Our complete guide offers you essential tips for a perfect application. Here are our 10 tips to optimize the longevity of a perfume.
1. Choose a quality fragrance:
The quality of a perfume is closely related to its composition of high-quality ingredients and their concentration, which affects the longevity and persistence of the fragrance on the skin. Choose quality perfumes such as Our Elixirs, created with rare ingredients and great attention to detail.
2. Apply to clean skin:
Applying perfume on clean skin allows the fragrance to adhere better, as oils, impurities, and skin odors can interact with the scent, altering its composition and longevity.
3. Hydrate your skin :
A well-hydrated skin retains fragrance better. Apply a fragrance-free lotion or cream on the areas where you will apply the perfume. Tip: Vaseline, due to its greasy composition, creates an occlusive barrier on the skin that traps the aromatic molecules of the perfume, thus extending its longevity.
4. Choose the pulse points:
The areas of your body where heat is released, called pulse points, are ideal for applying perfume. These include the neck, wrists, inside of the elbows, behind the ears, and knees. These areas emit heat, which will help to diffuse the fragrance.
5. Do not rub:
After applying, do not rub the areas where you applied the perfume. This common misconception is false as it can break the perfume molecules and reduce its longevity. It is better to gently dab to preserve the integrity of the perfume.
6. Avoid spraying on your clothes:
Clothing can absorb and retain odors, which can alter the fragrance. Spray the perfume directly on your skin but be careful; some perfumes can cause allergic reactions. When in doubt, please request the Safety Data Sheet for your product. Our Elixirs meet strict quality and safety standards.
7. Use matching bath products:
The use of bath products that match one's fragrance, such as shower gels and body lotions from the same range, can help to reinforce the scent consistently. This creates a harmonious olfactory experience, as these products share similar notes with the perfume, allowing for an extended longevity of the fragrance on the skin. However, it is essential to ensure that these bath products are designed to be used together with the specific perfume to avoid any incompatibility of scents.
8. Keep an appropriate distance:
Spraying a perfume at a distance of 15 to 20 cm from the skin allows for a more even and light distribution of the fragrance. This method limits the amount of perfume applied in a single spray, which reduces the risk of overload and allows the perfume to dry on the skin without being altered by excessive application. As a result, the perfume can better interact with the skin's natural oils, which helps to extend its longevity.
9. Properly store your perfume:
To effectively preserve a fragrance, store it in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight, at a constant temperature. Avoid shaking the bottle, keep the cap closed, and avoid moisture. It is recommended to use it within 1 to 2 years after opening to maintain its quality and longevity.
10. Avoid clumsy fragrance layering:
The marriage of different perfumes, also known as "Layering" in trend, is the art of layering fragrances, offering a unique personalization. Avoiding clumsy mistakes requires knowledge of the notes, subtle application, and a prior test on the skin. Discover Our 10 Tips to successfully achieve your Layering.
