How to choose a perfume according to the season?

Choosing a fragrance based on the season can help create an olfactory experience suited to the climatic conditions and seasonal activities. Here are our tips for selecting your type of fragrance according to the season.

    Spring

In spring, nature awakens, gardens bloom, and the air becomes milder. To match this season, opt for light and refreshing fragrances. Floral notes such as rose, peony, jasmine, and lily of the valley are perfect and can be a wise choice for freshness. Fruity notes like green apple, lemon, and peach can add a touch of vitality to your fragrance. Other notes, such as green notes and aquatic notes, can also be interesting alternatives, evoking nature or the lightness of water.

Avoid: In spring, it is best to set aside heavy and opulent perfumes. Rich oriental fragrances with spices and woody notes, as well as gourmand perfumes with notes of vanilla and caramel, can feel overwhelming in the spring warmth. Also avoid very sweet and cloying perfumes, as they can be overpowering in hot weather. In summary, save the complex and warm winter perfumes for a cooler season and opt for fragrances that reflect the lightness and liveliness of spring.

        Summer

In summer, it is wise to favor light and refreshing perfumes that withstand the heat. Opt for fragrances with citrus notes like lemon, bergamot, and mandarin. These notes bring a touch of vitality and freshness, perfect for sunny days. Light floral perfumes, such as orange blossom and jasmine, evoke sweetness. Aquatic notes remind of the sea breeze and are ideal for beach days.

Avoid: In summer, just like in spring, it is better to avoid rich and opulent perfumes, as well as overly sweet fragrances. Heavy oriental perfumes with spices and woods can feel suffocating in the summer heat. Similarly, gourmand perfumes with notes of vanilla, caramel, or chocolate can become overwhelming. Also, avoid overly sweet and cloying perfumes that can be overpowering when it's hot.

          Autumn

Autumn evokes images of falling leaves and warm colors, which is reflected in the scents of this season. Opt for rich and enveloping fragrances that evoke warmth and sweetness. Woody notes, such as cedar and sandalwood, create a warm and soothing atmosphere. Spicy notes, like cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg, add a touch of complexity. Gourmand notes, such as vanilla, caramel, and tonka bean, remind us of the flavors of autumn. Deep floral scents, like rose and jasmine, are also suitable for this season.

Avoid: In autumn, avoid fragrances that are too fresh and light, as they may seem out of season. Aquatic and very floral fragrances can contrast with the autumn atmosphere. Opt for fragrances rich in woody, spicy, and gourmand notes to match the warm ambiance of autumn and avoid fragrances that are too light or summery.

            Winter

Winter evokes images of cold and comfort, which is reflected in the fragrances of this season. Opt for rich and enveloping scents that offer warmth and solace. Woody notes, such as cedar, patchouli, and sandalwood, create a solid base for a winter perfume. Spicy notes, like cinnamon, clove, and cardamom, add a touch of warmth and complexity. Oriental perfumes, with notes of vanilla, musk, and incense, evoke sensuality and depth. Gourmand fragrances, with notes of chocolate, caramel, or coffee, remind us of the delights of the winter season.

Avoid: In winter, avoid overly light and fresh perfumes, as they may seem out of season. Very floral and aquatic fragrances may not match the winter atmosphere. Opt for perfumes rich in woody, spicy, oriental, and gourmand notes to align with the warm ambiance of winter, and save the light and summery scents for the warmer seasons.

              Transition between the seasons

It is important to note that skin reactions and the longevity of the fragrance can vary depending on the seasons due to factors such as humidity, sweating, and temperature. It may be necessary to adjust the amount of fragrance you use accordingly. Also, check out Our 10 Tips to make your fragrance last all day.
